Lake of Scanno (Province of L'Aquila)

Scanno is well-known for the picturesque narrow streets of the old city with ancient crafty activities and definitely for its lake, famous spot for many tourists and artists. It is located at 992 meters, 5,65 kilometers large and 32 meters deep. The lake originated by a huge landslide of Genzana Mountain, barring the valley of Sagittarius.

The lake is rich in fish: mallards, catfish, trout, heron and moorhen represent the local fauna.
