Abruzzo boasts 133 kilometers of sandy shores, all beautifully contrasting: the northern beaches have a short and sandy seashore, from the mouth of Tronto to the Foro River, between Francavilla al Mare and Ortona. The southern seaside is wild and the coastline is jagged. The cities offer the best hotels, vibrant marine life and energetic night spots, such as Pescara with its modern touristic port opened in 1989.
The northern coastline is the favored playground of families, young people and elder people since it offers a perfect mixture of relation, sightseeing in the outback and night life.
The seaside in the south is wild with gorgeous sceneries and impressive cliffs: from Ortona to Vasto and San Salvo, the picturesque Costa dei Trabocchi, idyllic and secluded bays with brooms and vineyards all around. The shores are surrounded by Mediterranean dense vegetation, cliffs and the beautiful Trabocchi, stilt houses raised on piles over the water, magical and wistful remnants of the old fishing activities. The beaches are wild and also romantic, ideal for scuba diving lovers.
Here, the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio wrote and set the story "Il trionfo della morte".
The coastline in Abruzzo is gorgeous with inviting waters and sprawling sands, energetic atmosphere of excellent restaurants, hotels and night spots. It is ideal for sport lovers: sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing are perfect recreational pursuits to fill your vacation days. All the beaches destination are easy to reach with the railway, the highway A14 and the route 16, both running along the Adriatic sea.
